Let’s look at gdgt

Gdgt is a new consumer website created by Peter Rojas and Ryan Block. Rojas was the founding editor of Engadget and Gizmodo and Block was editor-in-chief of Engadget. gdgt (like “gadget” — or g-d-g-t) is a new kind of technology site — a social gadget platform that enables you to connect with the community through your gadgets, and connect with your gadgets through the community. It’s a place for you to engage with your devices and hang out with people who are as passionate about their gear as you are. gdgt is all about providing you with useful, contextual information — both from the site and around the web — to help you get more out of the products you already own, as well as help you discover that next great device to add to your collection. The goal the company has is that gdgt will be the last personal technology destination users will need, and the place to call home for all of their gadgets.

All that structured data within the site also allows for an incredibly useful Gadget finder tool as well. I am currently in the market for a new external hard drive (HD) to allow me to bring my music with me during different performances I may have. I hopped right on gdgt, signed up and got to work. The sign up process is empty and you have the option of seeing which one of your twitter followers are using the site. Out of my 1500+ followers, only 17 were on this site which I found interesting. After that you can continue on and “connect” all the gadgets you have to your profile. This is helpful because then you can click on a specific gadget you have and then post up a question within the discussion/forum section of the site or check the latest news shared on the site about that gadget. The site automatically directs you to the discussion section of their specific gadget (when you click on discussion) so there is chance to get quality feedback from actual owners. The user UI is very slick and looks very attractive. The site also allows you to add new gadgets as just last week 253 new products were added. There is a features section where a weekly podcast is published and reviews of new/sponsored gadgets are released.

In summary, this site may just be my first stop when it comes to questions and issues with future or current devices I may have. Take a look at the video below to see gdgt in action. Will you be using gdgt? Follow me on gdt as well.
