Let’s look at gdgt

Gdgt is a new consumer website created by Peter Rojas and Ryan Block. Rojas was the founding editor of Engadget and Gizmodo and Block was editor-in-chief of Engadget. gdgt (like "gadget" -- or g-d-g-t) is a new kind of technology site -- a social gadget platform that enables you to connect with the community through your gadgets, and connect with your gadgets through the community. It's a place for you to engage with your devices and hang out with people who are as passionate about their gear as you are.

App to Watch: Aloqa

My first thought is like this is a mobile yellow pages that brings any and everything to my phone without having to search through Google Maps or my Mobile browser. This is especially valuable on a road trip looking for gas stations, ATM's, liquor stores or anything else unique.

Pixelpipe – A 2009 Gem for me

As we enterered another decade (Happy New Year!), I wanted to highlight one of my favorite apps I discovered in 2009. Midway through the year, I jailbroke my iPhone 3G because I wanted video recording capability but I didn't have $300 extra dollars to spend on an iPhone 3GS.

Cinch takes the next step

Today I am going to discuss one of my favorite "up and coming" services - Cinch. I was turned onto this service by both Louis Gray and Jesse Stay who spoke about it on Friendfeed and their respective blogs. Cinch is a service that allows you to create and share micropodcasts, images and text all on one platform. My main use of cinch will be for interviews of musicians for my Mirth Nadir show.

Sports Illustrated goes Digital!

As a sports lover with an affection for timely photographer, Sports Illustrated digita magazine has me officially excited in a big way. I was browsing one of my favorite music business sites yesterday and ran across this sweet video. I have been a loyal subscriber to Sports Illustrated since 1986 (the episode with childhood icon Len Bias was my first issue ironically). Take a look at the video below to see how far this publication has come and how it continues to thrive as numerous magazine publications have gone out of business.

Dropbox – A pleasant surprise

I must admit, I am late to the game in learning about Dropbox. Starting in late 2008 and leading into 2009, this application has been getting some great buzz. In simple terms, Dropbox is a file syncing system that allows you to carry your files with you 24/7. You can have your iphone (or any mobile phone), or just web-access and your files are there waiting for you. If you are really into programming you can design some scripts which really turn on the power of Dropbox.

Gowalla – “A Quiet Storm is brewing”

Many of us (including myself) have been caught up in the Foursquare frenzy and continue to update our daily stops and visits as we climb the leaderboard. Even CNN has declared Foursquare the next big thing in 2010. As of yesterday, there are now $8.4 million reasons to pay attention to Gowalla. The main difference between Gowalla (based in Austin, Texas) and Foursquare is that Gowalla users can participate anywhere they are connected.
